The Mangosteen, ich komme wieder!

I, 45 years old (m), urgently wanted to leave autumnal northern Germany to bring some light back into my life. For years I have toyed with the idea of going on an Ayurveda holiday. The time was now more than right and after intensive online research I found The Mangosteen in Rawai, Phuket. Here I was able to combine Ayurveda with a holiday in Thailand. I first booked the AyurYoga Panchakarma program for 7 days. When I arrived at the international airport in Phuket, I was picked up by the hotel’s own shuttle bus and chauffeured to the hotel in Rawai. As soon as I arrived at the hotel I knew I had made the right choice. The whole hotel complex is equipped with so much attention to detail. You notice and feel immediately that you have finally arrived in Thailand and that it is showing its most beautiful side there. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful too. I was kindly given a room upgrade (Deluxe Jacuzzi Villa) due to the Covid situation. I felt very comfortable in my small villa and everything was very clean and well maintained. I found it particularly great that the hotel was organized in a sustainable and ecological way (e.g. no plastic, etc.). Filtered water was filled into glass bottles on request and products such as shower gel and shampoo are made from local mangosteen and smell wonderful. The hotel offers a shuttle to the most beautiful beach in Phuket, Nai Harn Beach, several times a day. During a consultation with Dr. Subhash was the first time I was explained in detail what Ayurveda is all about. My weaknesses were identified when filling out a questionnaire and Dr. Subhash then developed an individual healing program for me. The highlight was the daily Ayurveda treatments by Ajith, which I received in the morning and early evening for a full hour. The different types of massages were just incredibly good. I’ve had massages many times in my life, but Ajith has become my personal Indian massage guru. Instead of the yoga sessions in the beautifully landscaped garden, I went to work out daily in the hotel’s gym. The kitchen of the hotel also left nothing to be desired. All meals were tailored to my needs and were of course Ayurvedic. For the first time in my life, I went vegetarian for a week, and it was good for my body and soul. The two chefs fascinated me anew at every lunch and dinner and surprised me with new menu variations. The hotel exudes a family character, and you somehow feel like part of the family. I recovered so well after just one week that I immediately booked another week. I then spent a total of 2.5 weeks in the hotel. It was certainly one of the most beautiful vacations of my life, but definitely the most relaxing vacation so far. The Mangosteen, I’ll be back!
