AYURVEDA IN THAILAND 🌴 WELCOME TO MANGOSTEEN AYURVEDA & WELLNESS RESORT
Ayurveda
Ayurvedic medicine, or “Ayurveda,” is one of the oldest holistic healing systems in the world. Developed over 3,000 years ago in India, it has been refined and perfected over the centuries. Ayurveda is based on the belief that health and wellness come from a balanced mind, body, and spirit. Its primary focus is on promoting good health rather than fighting disease.
Now, the Mangosteen Resort team brings authentic Ayurveda to Thailand.
Ayurvedic treatments can target specific health issues like weight loss, detoxification, stress relief, and boosting energy.
Ayurveda is considered an alternative form of medicine. Practitioners believe that everything in the universe, living or non-living, is connected. If your mind, body, and spirit are in harmony with the universe, you will have good health. When this balance is disrupted, you are more likely to get sick. Factors like genetic or birth defects, injuries, climate changes, aging, and emotions can upset this balance.
Ayurveda practitioners believe that every person is made up of five basic elements: space, air, fire, water, and earth. These elements combine in the body to form three life forces called “Doshas.” Doshas control how your body works. They are Vata Dosha (space and air), Pitta Dosha (fire and water), and Kapha Dosha (water and earth).
Each person has a unique mix of the three Doshas, but one usually dominates. Each Dosha controls different body functions. It’s believed that your health and the likelihood of illness are linked to the balance of your Doshas. More…
How does your approach differ from Ayurveda retreats in India or Sri Lanka?
Answer:
While we follow authentic Ayurvedic principles, we offer a more intimate and personalized setting. With fewer guests, longer doctor consultations, and individual attention, many find our approach more accessible and caring. You also enjoy a peaceful tropical island location without the crowds.
Are your herbal medicines and oils sourced from India?
Answer:
Absolutely. We import all medicated oils, herbs, and formulations from certified Ayurvedic pharmacies in India, such as those using GMP and traditional preparation methods. Only high-quality, tested formulations are used — free of heavy metals and synthetic additives.
How long should I stay for a proper Ayurveda experience?
Answer:
We recommend a minimum of 7 nights, but for deeper detox and rejuvenation, 14 to 21 nights are ideal. Panchakarma programs, in particular, require time for proper cleansing and rebuilding.
How is Ayurveda different from Western medicine?
Answer:
Western medicine often treats symptoms using pharmaceuticals or surgery. Ayurveda, on the other hand, addresses the root cause of illness through personalized treatments, herbal medicine, diet, and lifestyle changes — aiming to restore balance and prevent disease.
Can I still enjoy the beach and pool?
Answer:
Absolutely! While some treatments require rest afterward, guests often enjoy time in nature, gentle walks, or relaxation by the pool between sessions.
Can I consult with your doctor before booking a long Panchakarma?
Answer:
Yes. For advanced or therapeutic Panchakarma programs, we recommend a free pre-arrival online consultation to assess your needs, ensure readiness, and design the right length and depth of your treatment.
Do I need to be sick to join an Ayurveda program?
Answer:
Not at all. Ayurveda is both preventive and curative. Many of our guests join to detox, destress, or simply to feel more energized and aligned. Whether you have a health concern or just want to invest in your long-term wellbeing, Ayurveda is suitable.
Can I do yoga during my Ayurveda program?
Answer:
Yes, yoga is a core part of all our Ayurveda programs. Daily sessions are tailored to complement your treatment plan and Dosha type — supporting detox, flexibility, inner calm, and vitality.
Are all treatments done by professionals?
Answer:
Yes. All therapies are performed by certified Ayurvedic therapists trained in traditional techniques and under the supervision of our resident doctor.
Is Ayurveda safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Answer:
Certain therapies are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please inform us beforehand so we can tailor your program for safety and comfort.
Are your therapists trained in traditional Ayurvedic techniques?
Answer:
Yes, all our therapists undergo rigorous training based on Kerala Ayurvedic standards and work under continuous supervision. We prioritize authentic treatment protocols — from synchronized Abhyanga to precise Marma point activation — ensuring an experience true to classical Ayurveda.
How is Ayurvedic food different from normal food?
Answer:
Ayurvedic meals are plant-based, fresh, and tailored to your Dosha. Ingredients are selected to support digestion, detoxification, and internal balance. At Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort, our kitchen prepares every meal with care — flavorful, healing, and free from processed ingredients.
Are the Ayurveda programs safe for older guests or those with medical conditions?
Answer:
Yes. Every program starts with a detailed consultation to ensure treatments are appropriate. We adapt all therapies to suit your health status, age, and comfort. Please inform us of any medical history in advance.
Can I drink coffee or alcohol during my stay?
Answer:
We recommend avoiding stimulants like coffee and alcohol during your program. They can disrupt the detox process and Dosha balance. Herbal teas and Ayurvedic drinks are provided instead.
Do I need prior experience with Ayurveda to join?
Answer:
Not at all. Whether you’re completely new to Ayurveda or experienced, we welcome everyone. Our team explains every step in simple terms and supports you throughout.

Ayurveda Therapeutic Benefits – Ayurveda Oil Massage

Therapeutic Benefits
Oil massage is a key part of Ayurvedic treatments. Its gentle method not only relaxes you during the session but also helps improve sleep and overall wellbeing. Ideally, Ayurvedic massage should be done daily to counteract daily stress.
During an Ayurvedic massage, there’s a subtle energy exchange between the therapist and the client. It’s important to trust and feel comfortable with your therapist to allow this energy flow. The therapist feels honored by your trust, creating a flow of love and compassion. This is why the Ayurvedic word for oil, Sneha, also means love and kindness. If love is a cure-all, then an Ayurvedic oil massage is a great way to get a healthy dose.
If you’ve never had one, you might wonder what an Ayurvedic Massage Treatment is and how it differs from a regular massage. Try it for yourself at Mangosteen Resort in Phuket and experience the difference.

Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Nezeem Kadavil Uthuman
Ayurveda Doctor
Dr. Nezeem was born and brought up in an Ayurveda background in Kerala, inspired by his father who was a Gov. Ayurvedic Medical Officer, having experience of over 50 years. From childhood until now he has been influenced by the success of his father in his Ayurveda practicing skills.
He decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and successfully studied “Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)” and also got a “PG Diploma in Hospital Management”. To further enhance his skills, he specialized in Marma Therapy.
After his studies, he focused on learning classical ways of Ayurvedic treatment for which he joined Sitaram Ayurveda Hospital, one of the most reputed hospitals in Kerala.
He later spent 5 years working with his father, his absolute best teacher in Ayurveda and in life, working with Kama Ayurveda which is one of the leading luxury brands in India. Working with his father helped him to learn to treat all general diseases and our day-to-day diseases which are caused by unhealthy lifestyles like arthritis, paralysis, old age problems, general pain, sciatic disease, etc.
Later he moved to Morocco where he was working as a doctor in an authentic Ayurveda Centre where he learned a different approach of consultation, which means having to make understand or make-belief what is traditional Indian system and how it works. So, he included the classical way of an approach called” Nadi Pariksha”. Nadi Pariksha is the ancient ayurvedic technique of diagnosing through the pulse. It can accurately diagnose physical, mental, and emotional imbalances as well as disease. Along with that he is specialized in “Marma Chikitsa “, which means the application of pressure on vital points induces the flow of energy using hand technique.
