Why Ayurveda
Our exclusive Destination Spa has adopted ancient Ayurveda Spa techniques. This makes our Spa the only venue on Phuket which has based its Spa concept on this practice.
Ayurveda is however not only a system of Healing, but an entire way of life that aims to bring about the perfect balance of the entire personality – body, mind and spirit. Ayurveda is based on theory of “Tridosha”, the three Biological forces – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Disease arises when there is an imbalance among the three Doshas and aim of the therapy is to bring about the required equilibrium.
We are what we eat – Agni (Digestive Fire) plays an important role in manifestation of various disorders. If your Agni is in balance state then metabolic activities throughout the body will be fine and all other systems of body will function in harmony. So main consideration is given to correct your digestive fire along with three biological factors – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Your holistic journey with us will also be focused on healthy diet and food.
All treatments begin with a detailed consultation with our specialist Ayurvedic Doctor. The consultant determines your “Dosha” and other parameters of the body based upon Ayurvedic Examination Principles and prescribes the treatments most appropriate to your body needs. A holistic experience is what we aim to provide our guests with range of Ayurvedic treatments and therapies. And the expert hands at the resort make sure of it in every minute detail.
Ayurveda and Yoga, both sciences exist together as both aims towards healthy mind, body and soul. Here at Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort, we not only heal your body but also your mind and soul, through our authentic Ayurvedic therapies, spiritual practices, yoga and meditation.
From general detoxification and rejuvenation programs we also provide customized treatments and cures as Ayurveda has solutions for almost all disorders. Your experience with us will be everlasting as you learn the art of self healing and healthy living.

AYURVEDA SPA HISTORY
AYURVEDA SPA HISTORY
VEDAS ARE THE BASIC SCRIPTURES OF INDIAN PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE AND SPIRITUALITY, DEALING WITH ALL THE FACTS OF THE BIRTH OF THE UNIVERSE.
Oil massage is consistently used throughout Ayurvedic massage treatments. Its calm approach means that recipients are not only induced into a relaxed state during the massage, they also often report an improvement in their sleep patterns and general sense of wellbeing. In an ideal world, Ayurvedic massage would be carried out daily to help keep at bay the effects that everyday stresses and strains can have on our minds and bodies.
During an Ayurvedic massage a subtle transfer of electromagnetic energy takes place between the therapist and the client, so it is important to trust and feel ‘good vibes’ with your chosen therapist. One must feel receptive and safe in order to allow the energy of the therapist. In turn, a wave of unconditional love and compassion flows through the therapist as they respect the faith you have placed in them, an honour not taken lightly. Perhaps that’s why the Ayurvedic word for oil is sneha; a term also synonymous with love, kindness and tenderness; all the feelings that should engulf you during an Ayurvedic body massage. If love is the panacea, then an Ayurvedic oil massage is a great way to get a good dose of unconditional love.
If you never had one you might be wondering what is an Ayurveda Massage Treatment and how is it different from a regular massage try one for yourself at Mangosteen resort in Phuket.

The Buddhist Philosophy had a greater influence on Ayurveda practice to be “nonviolent”, hence Ayurveda was promoted to be major herbal medicine practice and not adhering the surgical practices which were considered violence.
Sushrut Samhita together with Charaka Samhita, served as the textual material within the ancient Universities of Takshashila and Nalanda. These texts are believed to have been written around the beginning of the Common Era, and are based on a holistic approach rooted in the philosophy of the Vedas and Vedic culture. Holism is central to Ayurvedic philosophy and elements of holism are found in several aspects of Ayurveda.
The core of Ayurveda practice is that the functioning of all creation, the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms, can be understood as the interactions of three fundamental energy complexes (DOSHAS). The three energies are vata, pitta and kapha – signifying the dynamic or mobile, energetic, nonmaterial aspect of nature; the transformative, intelligence aspect; and the structural, physical aspect respectively.
Vata governs respiration, circulation, elimination, locomotion, movement, speech, creativity, enthusiasm, and the entire nervous system.
Pitta governs transformations such as digestion and metabolism, vision, complexion, body temperature, courage, cheerfulness, intellection and discrimination.
Kapha governs growth (anabolic processes), lubrication, fluid secretions, binding, potency, patience, heaviness, fluid balance, compassion, and understanding in the organism. All have physical expressions in the body.
Sustenance of life occurs by the balanced and coexistence of the three DOSHAS.
Co factors as the Genetic binding DNA structure of the parents, the condition of the womb of the mother, season of conception, the prevalent energy at the Geographical location of conception. etc. All factors combined lead to a permutation and combination of the dominance of the Doshas. This body or constitutional character is called PRAKRUTHI is the Bio Energy structure of an Individual for life which does not change.)
Hence analyzing an individual’s PRAKRUTHI is similar to mapping the DNA structure of a specific character, molded in certain varieties of Individuals of the dominant DOSHAS.
Hitahitam Sukham Dukham Ayushatasya Hitahiam.
Maanag Tachha Yatroktam Ayurveda Sa Uchhyate. (Charaka Samhita Sutra Sthana 1/14) I.e. the science which deals with or describes the favorable or unfavorable, happy or unhappy measures for a span of life. What is conductive or non-conductive for such life span, is known as Ayurveda. Answers related to all such quarries are found in Ayurveda.
For a Healthy Span of Life of an individual the three energy complexes as stated above have to be balanced at every season and phase of life and the guide which helps to lead is AYURVEDA.
